Duplex rollers, also known as twin drum rollers or double drum rollers, are specialized compaction machines used primarily in road construction and earthwork applications. They are designed to compact soil, gravel, asphalt, and other materials to achieve a smooth and stable surface.
A duplex roller consists of two heavy steel drums mounted on an articulated chassis. These drums can be smooth or have a combination of smooth and padfoot (sheepfoot) surfaces, depending on the type of material being compacted and the desired finish.
Duplex rollers use the combined weight of the drums and vibration (in some models) to compact the material. The operator controls the movement of the roller and adjusts parameters such as vibration frequency and amplitude to optimize compaction.
